1. Pennsylvania cabinet company destroyed in massive fire (Posted May 1, 2026)
A Howard, Pennsylvania cabinet shop was destroyed in a blaze that multiple fire companies battled late Wednesday night, April 29, into Thursday morning. No injuries were reported, but 35 workers lost their jobs.
 

2. eSolutions Furniture Group ceases manufacturing operations  (Posted April 30, 2026)
The eSolutions Furniture Group, which includes Bush Business Furniture, Bush Furniture, and Bestar, immediately ceased manufacturing operations on April 30.

3. Boise Cascade pleaded guilty in timber trafficking scheme, fined $6.3 million (Posted April 28, 2026)
The Boise Cascade Company pleaded guilty and was sentenced on April 27 for a felony violation of the Lacey Act for its role in a timber trafficking scheme to evade countervailing and anti-dumping duties.
 

4. Wren ceases U.S. operations, kitchen maker steps in (Posted April 28, 2026)
Wren Kitchens, a high‑end kitchen supply company, has closed all of its U.S. locations, leaving customers with half‑finished renovation projects and thousands of dollars in potential losses.
 

5. The rising cost of carbide cutting tools (Posted April  16, 2026)

6. Canadian wood products industry in 'dire' straits (Posted April 30, 2026)
The news out of Canada this week has been devastating for the Canadian wood products industry, as two major furniture manufacturers have announced they were closing. Those closures just might have been the beginning.

7. Whiskey distiller, and former barrel maker, is up for sale  (Posted April 17, 2026)
Brown-Forman, makers of Jack Daniel's Woodford Reserve, was offered $15 billion for the company. It turned it down. The distiller was also known for its cooperage capabilities.
 

8. Furniture orders show slight rise in February (Posted May 8, 2026)
New residential furniture orders rose 2% in February compared to the previous month, and were up 1% compared to February 2025's numbers.
 

9. Bestar and U.S. subsidiaries get temporary U.S. bankruptcy protection (Posted May 6, 2026)
A Delaware bankruptcy judge has granted provisional protection to the U.S. assets of Bestar and other sister companies facing liquidation. The shield prevented creditors from seizing the company's U.S.-based inventory or facilities.
