RESTON, Va. — Cabinet manufacturers reported overall cabinet sales were down 8.7% for August 2025 compared to the same month in 2024, with all three segments reporting year-over-year losses, according to the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association's August Trend of Business report.
The 51 responding companies in the survey reported overall sales of $191.987 million for August 2025. In the year-over-year comparison, custom sales were down 11.7% to $51.090 million, semi-custom dropped 8.2% to $107,627 million and stock sales fell 5.3%, to $33.270 million. Respondents reported a cabinet quantity for the month of 502,775 were down 10.2% compared to August 2024 figures.
For the month-over-month sales comparison, survey respondents reported an decrease in custom sales of 6.%. However, semi-custom were up 0.4%, while stock sales were up 17.2% in Augusr compared to July figures. Cabinet quantity increased by 7.7% during the time period.
For the year-to-date, year-over-year comparison of both quantity and sales were down. Participants' sales through August 2025 were $1,567,784 million, down 6.7% from 2024 figures. Custom sales dropped 5.9%, semi-custom dipped 4.7% and stock declined 13.9%. Cabinet quantity for the year also decreased, down 14.4% to 3,604.454 million, according to survey participants.
For the overall cabinet market, estimated sales for July were $1.8 billion and estimated sales for the year-to-date were $13.570 billion. Cabinet quantity for the overall market was 4.9 million for the month and 43.1 million January through August.
The Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association (KCMA) represents kitchen cabinet and bath vanity manufacturers and key suppliers of goods and services to the industry. KCMA has been compiling and reporting industry sales data for more than 40 years.
