RESTON, Va. – Cabinet manufacturers reported overall sales were down 7.6% for May 2025 compared to the same month in 2024, with all three segments reporting year-over-year losses, according to the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association's May Trend of Business report.
The 51 responding companies in the survey reported overall sales of $207.522 million for May 2025. In the year-over-year comparison, custom sales were down 7.2% to $55.966 million, semi-custom dropped 4.9% to $118.011 million and stock sales fell 16.3%, to $33.545 million. Respondents reported a cabinet quantity for the month of 533,611 down 20.6% compared to May 2024 figures.
For the month-over-month sales comparison, however, survey respondents reported increases in all three segments. Custom sales rose 8.8%, semi-custom increased 5.2%, while stock sales were up 4.3% in May compared to April figures. Cabinet quantity though dropped slightly, by 0.3% during the time period.
For the year-to-date, year-over-year comparison both quantity and sales were down. Participants' sales through May 2025 were $982.713 million, down 6.3% from 2024 figures. Custom sales dropped 5,4%, semi-custom dipped 2.8% and stock declined 18.1%. Cabinet quantity for the year also decreased, down 15.9% to 2,592 million, according to survey participants.
For the overall cabinet market, estimated sales for May were $2.050 billion and estimated sales for the year-to-date were $9.770 billion. Cabinet quantity for the overall market was 5.4 million for the month and 28.3 million January through May.
The Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association (KCMA) represents kitchen cabinet and bath vanity manufacturers and key suppliers of goods and services to the industry. KCMA has been compiling and reporting industry sales data for more than 40 years.
