RESTON, Va. — Cabinet manufacturers reported overall sales were down 9.3% for April 2025 compared to the same month in 2024, with all three segments reporting year-over-year losses, according to the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association's March Trend of Business report, released May 27.
The 53 responding companies in the survey reported overall sales of $195.8 million for April 2025. In the year-over-year comparison, custom sales decreased 11.9% to $51.4 million, semi-custom sales dropped 3.9% to $112.2 million, and stock sales fell 20.8% to $32.2 million. Respondents reported a cabinet quantity for the month of 534,969, down 15.1% compared to April 2024 figures.
For the month-over-month sales comparison, survey respondents reported increases in stock sales, but not in custom or semi-custom sales, which previously had seen increases. Custom sales were down 8.4%, semi-custom was down 10.1%, while stock sales went up 7.6% in April compared to March figures. Cabinet quantity decreased 1.6%.
For the year-to-date, year-over-year comparison both quantity and sales were down. Participants' sales through April 2025 were $774.6 million, down 6.0% from 2024 figures. Custom sales dropped 5.2%, semi-custom dipped 2.3% and stock declined 18.6%. Cabinet quantity for the year also decreased, down 14.6% to 2.059 million, according to survey participants.
For the overall cabinet market, estimated sales for April were $1.9 billion and estimated sales for the year-to-date were $7.7 billion. Cabinet quantity for the overall market was 5.5 million for the month and 22.9 million January through March.
The Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association (KCMA) represents kitchen cabinet and bath vanity manufacturers and key suppliers of goods and services to the industry. KCMA has been compiling and reporting industry sales data for more than 40 years.
