FEDERAL WAY, WA – Weyerhaeuser now offers Trus Joist Parallam Plus PSL with Wolmanized preservative protection in select western states. The treated engineered wood beams are suitable for exterior applications and have proven popular in eastern regions for high moisture conditions.
Decay- and insect-resistant, Parallam Plus PSL headers and beams are ideal for a range of exposed structural lumber applications, including framing decks, retaining walls, carports, outdoor shelters, and pool enclosures. The engineered wood is treated to the core with Wolmanized preservative protection, eliminating the need for field treatment when the wood is cut or drilled.
Like original Parallam PSL, the kiln-dried beams are consistently straight and strong, and they are available in long lengths for increased design flexibility. Manufactured with a patented process that bonds together long, thin strands of wood, the beams offer consistent performance, deliver excellent connection performance, and resist shrinking, twisting, and bowing. The parallel-strand construction also provides for appealing aesthetics, and the beams can be painted or stained on site. The headers and beams are available in eight sizes.
“Builders and decking contractors in eastern states have long relied on Parallam Plus PSL for its reliability in exterior applications, even in the harshest of climates,” said Luke Fouch, Trus Joist product manager for Weyerhaeuser. “We’re thrilled that we are now able to offer this popular product to our western customers.”
Parallam Plus PSL is sourced from 100% SFI-certified North American forests and manufactured with a process that uses 97% of every log, and it is recognized under the National Green Building Standard.
