SHELTON, Conn. - Based on its record of accomplishment in environmental responsibility, Panolam Industries has been accepted into the Composite Panel Association's Eco-Certified Composite (ECC) Sustainability Standard for particleboard production at its Huntsville, Ontario, facility. By participating in the program, Panolam demonstrates a strong public commitment to the sustainable use of wood fiber and to environmental stewardship.

The CPA's certification of compliance acknowledges that Panolam has demonstrated a strong public commitment to the sustainable use of wood fiber and to overall environmental stewardship. The trade group also recognizes that Panolam has completed and fulfilled requirements of the stringent California Air Resources Board (CARB) regulation on formaldehyde emissions from composite wood products.

In addition to meeting the strict CARB emissions requirements, a manufacturing plant must conform to at least three of five environmental criteria to qualify for ECC certification. Panolam Industries met or exceeded all five criteria: Carbon Footprint, Local and Renewable Resource, Recycled/Recovered, Sustainability, Wood Sourcing.
