CKCA board moves into position following annual election

NIAGARA FALLS, Ontario - Marking the 50th anniversary of  the Canadian Kitchen Cabinet Association, the new board took up its positions following the election of Mike Slobodian as president of the CKCA board at its National Forum.
 
"As I step into the President's role, I first want to thank Caroline Castrucci for the dedication and leadership she has provided the CKCA as both a board member and President over the last number of years," Slobodian said. "I look forward to continuing to work with her and the entire board in the coming year." Castrucci, of Lauryson Cabinets, remains on the board as past president, while Heidi Boudreault is vice president and Jame Dewinetz is treasurer.

At the National Forum, Gerald Van Woudenberg of Van Arbour Design and Woodworking Network's Will Sampson presented a session on pricing, including results from FDMC magazine's annual pricing survey. Heidi Boudreault, CKCA Vice-President from Denca in Calgary, Alberta (with her husband and business partner Dominic Boudreault). 
 
Michael Slobodian, CKCA President - Decor Cabinet
Michael has been with the Decor Cabinet Company since 1994 and his primary focus has been in working with the dealer network. He and his wife, Mandy, reside in Winkler in southern Manitoba, about one hour southwest of Winnipeg.For 24 years he has been with Decor Cabinets in various capacities, including customer solutions, catalogue and software development and support, and analytics. Michael believes in seeing the best in others and helping them succeed.  He uses his analytical and logical problem solving skills along with his knowledge of the industry as part of Decor’s Sales & Marketing team.  He currently provides leadership to the Marketing, Product and Catalogue teams and is responsible for Decor’s various dealer connection points and software interfaces.
 
Heidi Boudreault, CKCA Vice-President – Denca
Born and raised in Calgary, Heidi learned the ins and outs of the custom cabinetry industry at a young age, her passion in business management makes Heidi a perfect fit as General Manager and co-owner at Denca for the past 15 years. Her education includes Finance, Business Management and Marketing. Denca manufactures custom kitchens, vanities, entertainment units and cabinetry for any room in the home/office. Also a supplier for many appliances and plumbing fixtures. Denca is an active member of the Calgary community, proud to have donated  kitchens to non-for profit organizations in Calgary and supporting many local charities and events.
James Dewinetz,  CKCA Treasurer  – Pacific Rim Cabinets
James, who is VP and Controller at pacific Rim Cabinets, has been around the cabinet industry his whole life, working in factories as a summer job. His father started Pacific Rim Cabinets in 1997 to manufacture custom cabinets solely for export to Japan. Over the years, while Japan remains an integral part of the company’s history and sales, Pacific Rim Cabinets now deals primarily with the custom home builders, designers and architects around Vancouver and the lower mainland of BC manufacturing custom kitchens, bathroom vanities, entertainment units, closets, fireplace surrounds, offices, among others. James began working at Pacific Rim Cabinets in 2010 as the company’s accountant, he completed his CMA designation in 2012 and became the company’s Vice-President in 2013. James works with the CKCA President and the Executive Director to manage and monitor the CKCA Finances on a regular basis. 
 
Caroline Castrucci, Immediate Past President
Caroline Castrucci is the V.P. of Administration, Past President of the Greater Ottawa Homebuilders Association, and Past President of the Canadian Kitchen Cabinet Association. She is the recipient of many GOHBA Design Awards and brings a lifetime of experience as a family member and co-owner of Laurysen Kitchens Ltd. Laurysen Kitchens manufactures kitchens, vanities and closet storage systems. Their sales consist of Retail, Renovation, New Home Construction and Dealers. Caroline commenced her term in 2016 and will continue until 2018.

Bill volunteers for Foinse Research Station, a biological field station staddling the border of Ireland and Northern Ireland, one of more than 200 members of the Organization of Biological Field Stations.
