DRUMMONDVILLE, Quebec – Marc-André Bérubé, project manager for sustainable finishing processes at the Cabinetmaking and Furniture Innovation Center (INOVEM), Cégep de Victoriaville, will discuss water-based finishing developments at Salon Industriel du Bois Ouvré (SIBO).

Bérubé’s presentation, “Water-based finishing products for the furniture and woodworking industry: Where are we?” is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, April 24 at the Centrexpo Cogeco in Drummondville.

Bérubé will present results from a study that eliminate barriers that prevent the furniture and woodworking industry from adopting water-based products. His session will also highlight the environmental, health and safety advantages of water-based finishes compared to organic solvent-based coatings that cause the emissions of large amounts of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into the atmosphere.

Key takeaways of the seminar include:

• Cost analysis for switching to waterborne coatings; and
