Mick Peters, wood manufacturing data expert and Woodworking Network contributor, has launched a new business: Applied Automation Technologies, LLC.

Peters says the formation of Applied Automation is the culmination of his experiences, from direct manufacturing, to consulting, as well as sales of software systems. Author of the business book, Love Thy Data, Peters will address the Woodworking Network Leadership Forum on July 18 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.

"We offer a fresh perspective on data management and process improvement," he says. "Information flow is just as critical to manufacturing productivity as is delivery of material or availability of resources. We view this flow of information as the circulatory system of a business, where good flow is the sign of a healthy company, and blockages are cause for concern."

Peters, who has been consulting with other large technology firms, has direct experience with many major software products from ERP systems to engineering and shop floor management.

"Now as a completely independent company, we help our customers assess their needs, plan for growth, and implement needed improvements," he says. "Our technical resources and project management services provide the specialized skills to complement each customer’s team."
