MANHEIM, Pa. – Leland Thomasset, president of Taghkanic Woodworking, will discuss why and how he got into the closet and home storage business at the Wood Pro Expo Lancaster conference.

Thomasset’s presentation, “Getting Started in the Closets Market,” is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 13.

Thomasset founded Taghkanic Woodworking in 1989 to provide custom cabinets and furniture to clients in New York City, Massachusetts, and beyond. In 2014, Thomasset and his partner Mark Benko launched Pawling Cabinet to capitalize on the fast-growing closet market.

Thomasset’s presentation will cover why many custom woodwork businesses are well-positioned to branch off into designing, manufacturing, and installing products for closets, garages, pantries, and other rooms around the house.

Thomasset will also be able to highlight the multiple benefits of joining a professional association. He is a member and past president of the Cabinet Makers Association (CMA). He is also a member of the Association of Closet and Storage Professionals.

Thomasset's opening-day presentation will follow a nuts-and-bolts seminar by popular FDMC columnist Dr. Eugene Wengert, aka The Wood Doctor.
