POZNAN, Poland — A key player in the woodworking industry, Poland hosts several events, including the DREMA Fair, held annually in September in Poznań. DREMA is one of the largest trade fairs in Central and Eastern Europe, showcasing innovative machinery, tools, and technologies for wood processing and furniture manufacturing. Thousands of people attend the event, which features exhibits from hundreds of brands.
Automation and robotics were in action at many of the booths, highlighting companies’ quest to improve productivity and profitability in the competitive European – and global – landscape. Eco-friendly solutions to minimize any negative impact on the natural environment were also displayed.
Discussions on innovations and technologies in woodworking and furniture production took center stage at the Technologists Forum, including a look at how automation helps U.S. producers become more competitive by Woodworking Network Senior Editor Karen Koenig. Other show features included: DREMA for Children, a live demonstration producing furniture using Polish machines; Furniture Trend Zone; Parquet Zone; and DREMA Tools space, where innovative tool sharpening and regeneration technologies were presented.
Koenig, along with Cindy Hodnett of Furniture Today, Mynda Swaim of PixelWeave Media, and Marlon Cantillano, Mayan Brothers Media, attended the show as part of a trade tour on the Polish furniture industry, organized by the Polish Investment & Trade Agency (PAIH).
Co-located with DREMA, the 10th National Furniture Congress offered panel discussions on the competitive domestic market and globalization of the industry. Hodnett was among the panel participants.
