Stylish and futuristic electric motorcycle features wooden bodywork

French manufacturer Newron Motors' high-end electric motorcycle has a unique feature: A body fashioned almost entirely from wood.

Newron and other electric bike makers say the large, bulky batteries are always a design challenge. Newron's response was to leave the battery exposed and to draw the eye to sleek wooden panels.

Surrounding the battery are LED lights that change color. The bike's power and speed has yet to be revealed.

"Our team has successfully built our second prototype and is en route to creating a customizable, exclusive, high-end motorcycle for the true connoisseurs who are seeking for a new experience and assets," the company writes on its website.

Newron is partnering with French software firm Dassault Systems and is planning to build 12 bikes in 2020. The company is currently working on adding intelligence into the bike - allowing riders to input their destination and the motorcycle will use power most efficiently to get them there. If the battery gets low mid-route, the bike's intelligence will assist in throttling back - helping complete the intended route.

"The thrill of being ‘one’ with your bike as an incarnation of you and to fill the world as you never felt it in total silence," says Newron. "Having customized aspects of it, esthetics and behavior - a timeless and delicate piece of art tailormade."
