Design Portfolio: Adhesives deliver strong, reliable bonds

Adhesives are engineered to create strong, reliable bonds that last in pairing composite panels with decorative surfaces.

Advances in formulations offer high-performance and environmentally-responsible solutions to meet the requirements manufacturers need for every application.

Polyvinyl acetate (PVA), commonly called “white glue,” remains a trusted staple, along with aliphatic resin emulsions, or “yellow glue,” which provides quicker set times and a stronger initial hold. Both adhesives offer exceptional bond strength and are widely used in various woodworking applications, including the assembly of five-piece cabinet doors.

Polyurethane reactive adhesives (PUR) are typically used as top coatings for veneers and printed décor sheets. PUR adhesives provide exceptional durability with gloss levels that can be tailored to any design. Applied in dust-free environments to achieve smooth, high-quality finishes, these adhesives are flexible, making them well-suited for profile wrapping and other two-dimensional (2D) applications.

Hotmelt adhesives (HMA), often available in pellet form, are thermoplastic adhesives that soften with heat and cure at ambient temperatures. Liquid spray adhesives provide additional versatility, with formulations engineered for extended curing times, and are often fully cured with higher temperatures and pressure in traditional or membrane presses.

With the many adhesive technologies available in the marketplace, working closely with a supplier is essential to select the optimal solution for the project.
