SAN DIEGO – “Should You Charge Design Fees?”
Spoiler alert: Yes, according to Karen Rolleri, chief organization officer and founder of Organizeology.
Rolleri will present her reasoning for why closet professionals should charge clients for their designs at the Closets Conference, April 27, 2022. What’s more, she will explain how to get the client to agree to pay a design fee.
Rolleri, who launched Organizeology in 2007, was featured in the September/October issue of Closets & Organized Storage. The profile story came on the heels of Rollieri winning the 2021 Top Shelf Design Awards Best of Show prize for her “Modern Industrial Garage.”
The annual Closets Conference is co-organized by Closets & Organized Storage and the Association of Closet and Storage Professionals.
Other Closets Conference sessions include:
- Opening Keynote presented by Laurie Haefele, Associate AIA, ASID, NKBA, of Haefele Design Inc.;
- Magic Numbers and Financial Impacts presented by Tim Coleman of SCE Unlimited; and
- Organizing Your Business presented by Jane Stoller, founder and CEO of Organized Jane.
The full-day Closets Conference, which runs concurrently with the Wood Pro Conference, will be capped by a tour of a local manufacturing facility. The two-day Closets Expo, co-located with Wood Pro Expo California, follows on April 28-29 at the San Diego Convention Center. (View three-day event schedule.)

About the 2022 Closets Conference & Expo and Wood Pro Expo California
The Closets Conference & Expo is the annual national event for closet and home storage professionals. It is co-located with Wood Pro Expo California (WPE), a regional marketplace for woodworking professionals. The events are organized by Closets & Organized Storage and FDMC magazines respectively, each part of Woodworking Network. The twin-bill event is scheduled for April 27-29, 2022, at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, Calif.
The Closets Expo and WPE each kick off with a separate full-day conference on April 27, followed by the two-day expo, April 28-29, featuring woodworking machinery, supplies, and components. Additional educational programming is offered on both days of the expo. Tours of local manufacturing plants and the popular Top Shelf Design Awards networking reception are also key features of the event.
