Atlanta - Georgia-Pacific is sharing the news today that Christian Fischer, president and CEO, announced he is retiring from the company at the end of October and will work to transition his responsibilities beginning in August. Christian joined Georgia-Pacific in 1989 and has held numerous leadership roles. He was named president and CEO in 2017.

SNX announced a partnership with Mar-Bel Associates. Since the late 1950s, Jokile Inc. of Estero, Florida,, doing business as Mar-Bel Associates, has been building machines for the laminate industry. Now, SNX is manufacturing the iconic Mar-Bel single and multi-head slitters in its facility in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota.

Horizon Biofuels, the Nebraska-based pellet manufacturer whose facility was destroyed and three-people killed in a July 29 wood-dust explosion, had previously been cited by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration for violations.

Mercer International Inc. has reported second quarter 2025 Operating EBITDA of negative $20.9 million, a decrease from positive $30.4 million in the same quarter of 2024 and $47.1 million in the first quarter of 2025. In the second quarter of 2025, net loss was $86.1 million compared to $67.6 million in the same quarter of 2024 and $22.3 million in the first quarter of 2025.

FREMONT, Neb. — Wood dust is the likely cause of a July 29 explosion at a pellet plant in Fremont, Nebraska. The July 29 blast killed three people, including a male employee and his two daughters, both under the age of 12.
