LAS VEGAS — Students from across the nation entered the 2025 Fresh Wood competition. Forty finalists had their projects on display at the AWFS Fair.

This year’s competition were divided into two sections - high school and post secondary - and featured pieces in five categories: , Tables, Case Goods, Design for Production, Seating (post secondary only) and Open. 

In all categories, first place winners won $1,000, second place won $500, and Honorable Mentions won $250. The People's Choice Award won $750 and Best of Show won $1,000. Post secondary winners of Case Goods, Design for Production, and Best of Show also won a KCD Software Package. 

Wood industry experts judged the finalists, and prizes were awarded on Thursday, July 24, at the AWFS Fair Live Stage. 

Top honors: 

Tables:

Jacob Hamblin of Corner Canyon High School takes home first place prize in the High School Tables category.
Wesley Terrell of Center for Furniture Craftsmanship wins first place in Post-Secondary Tables category. 

Not pictured: Jackson Jensen
took home second place in the High School Tables category, while Sarah Kane of Vermont Woodworking School won second place in Post-Secondary. 

The Honorable Mention went to Junebug Brown of Decatur High School.

Case Goods: 

First place in the High School Case Goods category went to Gavin Richards of Fremont Public High School. 
Second place High School Case Goods winner was Damian Sanchez
of Oceanside High School.
Eliot Childress
of Center for Furniture Craftsmanship won first place in the Post Secondary Case Goods category.
Audrey Kasinger of Center for Furniture Craftsmanship, won second place in Post Secondary Case Goods. 

Open: 

shton Anderson of Mustang High School took home first place in the High School Open category with his Violin.

Dustin Grant wins People's Choice for The Mentor's Chair in All Categories. 
Eliot Childress wins Best of Show for The Next Chapter. Childress also won first place in the Case Goods category with this piece, and won first place place in the Open category with his piece Dozukuri.
