HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. - What are the hot trends for kitchen and bath cabinetry and countertops in 2016? According to a recent survey of design professionals, the overwhelming cabinet preference is for transitional style, with gray and neutrals the preferred color pallet, while granite continues to rule in the countertop market. These trends and more were revealed in the 2016 Design Trends Survey from the National Kitchen & Bath Association.

Furniture component manufacturer Leggett & Platt reports record sales for 2015

Full-year sales from continuing operations were $3.92 billion, a new continuing operations record and 4 percent increase over 2014 (during which sales increased 9 percent). Unit volume grew 6 percent and acquisitions added 3 percent to sales – these gains were partially offset however, by a 5 percent decline caused by raw material-related price deflation and currency impacts.

Siberian elm used for live edge table top

I have been cutting a lot of slabs lately and building a lot of tops. This is the first one that I have finished out of a big double-crotch Siberian elm that I milled in the spring. The top is 36″ at the narrowest and 58″ at the widest. The slab was milled 3″ thick and was flattened and finished with a hand-planed surface at 2″ thick.

Lumber Liquidators' VP talks flooring design trends

LAS VEGAS –The popularity of Lumber Liquidators’ laminate and hardwood flooring continues to rebound, based on the large number of crowds gathered at the booth during the recent International Builders Show in Las Vegas. Driftwood and similar whitewashed colors garnered a lot of interest from attendees, as did distressed and rustic looks in both hardwood and laminate flooring, commented Jay Quickel, vice president of merchandising for the Toano, Virginia-based producer.
