Custom bathtubs built in maple, walnut, and oak

Seattle-based NK Woodworking & Design specializes in exquisitely designed custom staircases, but the firm recently started producing wooden bathtubs on the same par. Fabricated from five species of wood—maple, sepele, figured maple, black walnut, and white oak—the products are the creation of Nathie Katzoff, a Wood Industry 40 Under 40 winner.

Wooden textiles transform wood into flexible surfaces

German designer Elisa Strozyk has completely rethought the idea of a textile. Her half-wood, half-textile “wooden textiles” transform wood into flexible wooden surfaces through a deconstruction into pieces, which are then attached to a textile base. Strozyk's wooden textiles are available in wentwood, mortimer, sherwood, and ashdown. They're made by cutting wood panels into various shapes and patterns.

In addition to an efficient finishing process, IWF TV sponsor Sherwin-Williams says it offers conversion varnishes, lacquers, UV coatings, and a unique universal primer called Sherwood. Joe Kujawski of Sherwin-Williams says Sherwood is great for pigmented finishes, dries quickly, and can have any coating placed over it.
