Jeanette Lam, who specified beveled-edge counters atop shiny white polyester coated cabinetry with no hardware showing, is a sophisticate in wood products. She owns Struxture, inc., a hand-scraped hardwood flooring firm.

Stiles Machinery lends support to ancient tree program

Stiles Machinery said during its IWF 2016 press conference that it will provide support to the Archangel Ancient Tree Archive,. Based in Copemish, Michigan, the organization propagates some of Earth's oldest trees, including California's giant redwoods, bycloning cuttings of the centuries-old specimens.

Joe Kujawski of Sherwin-Williams says Sherwood is great for pigmented finishes, dries quickly, and can have any coating placed over it.

Two-toned tuxedo cabinetry catching on, says Zillow home sales trends study

Tuxedo cabinets with black bottoms and white tops is trending, according to Zillow's Digs Home Trends Forecast, which has designers analyze trends by looking at pictures of existing homes for sale on the real estate website. Hidden appliances, flush-to-ceiling top cabinets, and shiplap wood paneling are also on the rise. Cherry wood cabinets are on the decline.

Bluewater Wood Alliance sets CNC, finishing event at Conestoga College Sept. 30

The Bluewater Wood Alliance (BWA), a cluster of wood product manufacturing companies in southwestern Ontario, is holding its next quarterly meeting September 30 at the Conestoga College Woodworking Centre of Ontario.
