Wood & Wood Products Publisher Laurel Didier and Editor Karen Koenig made the trek to Hannover with video cameras in hand to see European machinery innovations in action. During the third day of the German fair, the team took a look at the latest innovations in solid wood machining.
HANNOVER, GERMANY — Previously we featured some of the innovations in lightweight panel technology and finishing solutions. Here is a small sampling of the technology on display for solid wood machining.
New from Biesse, the Uniwin (video below) is a complete machining, sawing and tenoning center for the production of windows and doors. Featuring a robotized work table, the Uniwin can perform simultaneous machining of two components, and offers complete machining of arches and curved components in a single cycle.
Weinig displayed a number of total solutions systems for solid wood (shown below), which can incorporate robotic material handling and optimized cutting of material for fast production, improved yields and resource efficiency.
The Busellato Jet Optima (shown below) features “qinX” technology in which the aggregate head can be automatically adjusted for an angle. With the Jet Optima, small and mid-size companies now have the ability to perform five-axis machining on an entry-level machine.
From Wintersteiger, the DSB Single Head thin cutting bandsaw (shown below) features driven top and bottom feed rollers and a flexible blade guiding system. The machine can be adjusted to any workpiece width.
