Family-owned lumber company to acquire Ware-Butler Building Supply

Hammond Lumber, the second largest family-owned lumber company in Maine, is set to acquire Ware-Butler Building Supply. The acquisition will expand Hammond’s retail footprint from 22 to 34 locations throughout Maine and New Hampshire, further strengthening its ability to serve communities across the region. The acquisition will officially close on July 31, 2025.

Bassett Furniture names new member to board of directors

BASSETT, Va. — Bassett Furniture Industries Inc. elected James E. Goergen to its board of directors beginning July 22, 2025. “We welcome Jim Goergen to the Bassett Board of Directors,” said Rob Spilman, Chairman and CEO. “We are excited to have someone with his industry experience and track record to join the Bassett board. Canfor subsidiary expands into Central Sweden

Canfor Corporation announced July 22 that its 77%-owned subsidiary, Vida AB, has entered into an agreement to purchase AB Karl Hedin Sågverk from Mattsbo Såg AB and certain minority shareholders for a purchase price of $164 million (1.15 billion Swedish Krona), including working capital of approximately $39 million.
