WORCESTERSHIRE, U.K. - British sports car manufacturer Morgan Motor Co. is using its excess ash wood in a new product: gin.

Morgan, established in 1909 and known for utilizing ash in its lightweight car frames, is collaborating with British gin maker Piston Distillery to make the gin.

“The Morgan Motor Company has long been famous for its use of ash wood in the construction of its cars, but the 111-year-old firm has now discovered a creative use for the surplus material, with the launch of its Morgan x Piston Gin, produced in collaboration with Piston Distillery,” Morgan said in a statement.

Morgan believes its new Morgan x Piston Gin to be the world's first commercially-produced gin to be produced with ash wood.

Morgan says you'll taste notes of crisp, sweet apple and delicate wood from the ash shavings. It recommends serving with a ginger ale mixer and blackberries over ice.

The gin is selling for £45 ($60) or in a gift box for £55 ($73) in the company's online shop.
