WATSONVILLE, CA — Jackel Enterprises, a specialty lumber provider, on Nov. 1 announced that it is now certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) as a chain of custody supplier of hardwoods and softwoods, as part of the SmartWood Program of the Rainforest Alliance. FSC certification allows consumers to trace products from certified forests, as they become products in the marketplace, ensuring that the material comes from sustainably harvested sources.

“This affiliation is part of our growing effort to promote and participate in sustainable forestry and stewardship,” said Steve Jackel, Jackel Enterprises’ president. “There is an increasing awareness and market for products and materials that have been sustainably and responsibly harvested. We’ll be supplying the Greater Bay Area and San Francisco Bay Area with FSC-certified hardwoods and softwoods, especially Western Red Cedar.”
