DeWalt job site tools with MAX premium brushless motors and a new premium battery for “Extreme Runtime” launched Oct. 1. Brushless motors reduce draw and improve battery life, giving the XR 3-speed hammerdrill DCD995 (shown) and DCD990 drill/ driver up to 57% more runtime over standard brushed motors. Both are available as premium kits with two high-capacity (33% more) lithium ion battery packs. A “fuel” gauge shows battery power during use.

The new hammerdrill and drill/driver feature 3-speed all-metal transmissions; XR premium brushless drills have an electronic clutch minimizes front-to-back tool length so they fit in tight areas. The DCD995 hammerdrill is 8.4˝ long and weighs 4.7 lbs.; DCD990 drill/driver is 7.9˝ long and weighs 4.6 lbs.) A comfort grip handle provide ideal balance and feel.

The tools include a heavy-duty 1/2˝ metal ratcheting chuck with carbide inserts for exceptional bit gripping strength. The LED work light is placed on the tool’s foot to minimizes chuck shadows.
