Video: Wood From the Hood’s approach to urban wood reclamation

MINNEAPOLIS — Wood From the Hood was founded by Cindy and Rick Siewert to reclaim urban trees that once lined streets, shaded homes, and grew alongside the city itself.

The company’s sawmill, warehouse and showroom complex sits adjacent to Siewert Cabinet, a commercial cabinetry business started in 1965.

WFTH prides itself on carefully marking and responsibly removing each tree to begin a new chapter—not as waste, but as possibility. From milling and drying to craftsmanship and custom builds, nothing goes unused. Every branch, every board, every grain of sawdust is repurposed or recycled. Each finished piece—whether a cutting board, coffee table, or custom installation—can be traced back to its original Minneapolis zip code.
