Matthias Wandel's new ruler unites the metric system with inches.

"There is this schism between people who prefer metric and people who prefer inches," says Wandel, a prominent YouTuber, woodworker, and engineer. Wandel is the inventor of the PantoRouter.

"Metric people like nice convenient units, decimal, and being able to make easy calculations. Inches people like complicated fractional units. So I have come up with a new ruler to unite the two. It has nice millimeter and centimeter sized increments, but uses inches as the scale."

Wandel has built a screw advance box joint jig, a homemade power feeder using a roller skate wheel, created a unique machine that sets up dominoes in uniform rows, engineered contraptions to dampen the vibration on his table saw, and designed a remote control dust control switch. He also created a curtain rod that goes around corners, as well as a slinky escalator out of wood. Check them out here.
