WMIA awards nearly $40,000 in wood scholarships

This year, the Woodworking Machinery Industry Association’s (WMIA) Educational Foundation awarded nearly $40,000 in scholarships to those wishing to pursue a career in wood technology and machinery. A record number of applications for scholarships were received, along with a record number of female applicants.

WMIA founder Bert Lewyn dies

Bert Lewyn, a founding father of the Woodworking Machinery Importers Association (WMIA), died in his sleep on Sunday, January 3. A holocaust survivor born in Germany in 1923, Lewyn came to the U.S. in 1949 and settled down in Atlanta.
