Jet says its new 13-inch benchtop planer features a structural, four post-design and delivers a smooth and consistent cut finish due in part to its helical-style cutterhead. The cutterhead is outfitted with six rows and 26 individual quick-change knife inserts which the company says can be easily rotated or replaced if damaged or worn. It features a feed rate of 18 or 26 feet-per-minute at 10,000 RPM, infeed and outfeed tables, a four-inch dust port connector, and a toggle power switch with a removable safety key.

Easy Wood Tools says its new mini hollowers are designed specifically for small hollow forms to allow turning of small items like ornaments, mini vases and other hollow shapes. They are 15.25 inches in length and are available in a straight, a 45-degree angle, or 90-degree L-hook configuration on a square-shaped bar with an American maple handle. Also, they are equipped with Ci5 negative rake cutters that minimize the severity of unexpected catches that can occur when creating a hollow form.

Shaper Tool's Origin is a hand-held router that can be steered by a smart-phone-sized guidance system. With no programming required, the user guides the router's cursor within a general guide shown on the display, and the system keeps the cutting head on track. It uses a visual marker system to orient itself with the workpiece, then scans the surface to generate a map and if moved too far off course, the blade automatically retracts.

Leadermac says its Platinum Smartset 100 control system provides motorized head positioning by precise ball screws with rotary encoders to ensure accurate and repeatable adjustment. Programs can be stored in to a memory system through operator touch screen control and it features 8000 RPM spindles to allow for 33 percent more production according to the company.
