Since Tru Cabinetry became part of United Cabinet Holdings, its business has grown 53 percent, largely as a result of a product redesign and new technology. The former True-Wood Cabinet Company's sales gain has prompted the addition of a second shift, and 46 new jobs.

Peel and stick wood planking manufacturer Stikwood is expanding into Michigan and bringing dozens of jobs to the area.

The EPA said it moved to reduce exposure to formaldehyde vapors from engineered wood products produced domestically or imported into the United States. The formaldehyde emission standard is guided by California Air Resources Board, and was mandated by Congress.

Pella Corp. will acquire custom window and door maker Reilly Windows & Doors effective August 1. Terms of the acquisition, announced July 27, were not disclosed.

While Masco second quarter sales increased 4 percent to $2 billion, cabinetry sales fell 3 percent. Masco is the maker of cabinet brands KraftMaid, Merillat, and Quality Cabinets.

American Outpost, a manufacturer of handcrafted conference tables and office furnishings, will expand into a new facility in Macon, Georgia. The company says it grew over 700 percent last year.

Pike Lumber Co. has announced plans to expand its operations in Indiana and double its production. The lumber producer is investing $3.4 million to expand and equip its Milan, Indiana-based manufacturing facility. Plans also call to add up to 15 new jobs by 2020.

Canfor Corp. has officially opened two new pellet plants in British Columbia to produce biofuel from the company's sawmills. A $58 million joint venture with Pacific Bioenergy Corp., the Chetwynd and Fort St. John pellet plants have a combined annual capacity of 175,000 tonnes.

Stanley Furniture Company sales fell 20 percent second quarter, to $12.1 million. A subsidy from Chinese anti-dumping duties ended that had contributed $1 million in revenue in the year prior quarter. A troubled Vietnam factory startup is also hampering results.
