â The Ukrainian woodworking machinery association UWMA was welcomed at the Oct. 23 General Assembly meeting of the trade group Eumabois, held in Munich, Germany. Eumabois is a federation of 13 member associations that represent woodworking equipment in Europe. Representatives of UWMA will participate in Eumabois as observers for two years and then become an official member.
The recent meeting was hosted by the German association VDMA. Key topics of concern were the worldwide economic recession and future participation in exhibitions. The group reaffirmed its commitment to participate in international exhibitions that it officially recognizes.
âAmong the measures to be adopted to get out of the current economic situation, there must be a partial reorganization of the exhibition landscape,â said Franz-Joseph Buetfering, Eumabois president. âThe European federation is evaluating the current scenario with accurate analysis and surveys by qualified professionals.â
Eumabois released its calendar of 19 supported exhibitions for 2010, including two new events, Interwood in Athens, Greece, and W10 in Birmingham, England. Continuing with its 40-year tradition, Eumabois said the plan revolves around the biennial Xylexpo, which will be held in Milan, Italy, on May 4-8, 2010.
The next General Assembly will be held in Vienna, Austria, on September 24, 2010.
Delegates from 11 of Eumaboisâ 13 member associations and a representative from the Ukrainian woodworking association, who attended as a guest, met in Munich, Germany, in October.
