MUSCLE SHOALS, Al. - Great Southern Wood, a producer of pressure-treated pine and other lumber products, will invest $6.3 million in a new 45,200-square-foot manufacturing facility - creating 28 jobs over the next three years.

Two Colbert County governments will grant non-educational sales and property tax abatements for the expansion. The Muscle Shoals City Council will grant a one-time $41,594 abatement in the construction phase, while the Colbert County Commission approved a $132,882 abatement in property taxes.

The expansion will begin October 1 and should be completed next spring.

Great Southern Wood has 14 wood treatment plants throughout the eastern half of the United States. The company is most known for its YellaWood, its brand of pressure-treated pine.
