DULUTH, Ga. -- SCM is dedicating two days to the presentation of machining centers for timber construction on March 20-22 at the Oregon Convention Center for the International Mass Timber Conference.

The conference returns for its third year in 2018 as one of the largest events for CLT and mass timber experts from around the world devoted to mass timber in mid-to high-rise construction.

At this year’s event, SCM’s technology focus will be the Area CNC machining center for building components. Area is a CNC five-axis machining center with a mobile gantry structure and modular composition for processing large timber construction elements such as CLT/X-lam panels for walls, and glulam with straight and curved structural beams.

Oikos six-axis machining center for beams and wall panels is used for wooden logs, structural beams and modular wall elements. Oikos can machine all six faces of the work piece without rotating it, and meet any demand from the constantly evolving timber market. It allows machining of elements up to 1.25 m (49 inches) wide and 19 m (62 feet) long.
