The National Kitchen & Bath Association sent an alert to its members about an active phishing scam that is currently targeting NKBA members. While the scam initially appeared limited to Chapter Officers, the NKBA has received reports indicating a broader reach across its membership.
These fraudulent emails may appear to come from NKBA representatives—often mimicking names of the NKBA Leadership Team or Chapter Officers—and typically include urgent requests for money, gift cards, or other sensitive information.
The emails are not legitimate; they are part of a phishing scam designed to deceive recipients into taking harmful actions.
The NKBA said its memBers should watch for:
- Requests for money, gift cards, or financial assistance via Zelle/Wire/Venmo/PayPal
- Reimbursement Requests or help with Operating Expenses
- Suspicious email addresses that resemble—but don’t exactly match—official NKBA domains
- A strong sense of urgency or pressure to act quickly
- Unusual grammar, formatting, or tone
If you receive a suspicious email:
- Do not respond
- Do not click any links or open attachments
- Do not send any money or personal information
- Report the email or social media post to the NKBA.
