Pella recalls automated sliding doors and windows over battery risks
Pella Lifestyle Sliding Door recall

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, Pella's recalled products violate the mandatory federal regulations for consumer products containing button cell or coin batteries.

WASHINGTON The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced that Pella Windows and Doors was recalling approximately 340 Pella Reserve and Lifestyle Sliding Patio Doors and Lifestyle Windows.

According to the CPSC, the recalled products violate the mandatory federal regulations for consumer products containing button cell or coin batteries. The CPSC said the sliding doors’ sensor panel and the windows’ remote control have button cell batteries that can be easily accessed by children. This poses an ingestion hazard. In addition, CPSC said the recalled products do not have the required warnings. The CPSC further warned that when button cell batteries are swallowed, the ingested batteries can cause serious injuries, internal chemical burns, and death.

Consumers who installed the products are urged to replace or repair them.

Pella, based in Pella, Iowa, ranks #11 in the FDMC 300.
