The Southern Yellow Pine market gave a little back this week. We saw prices of most grades and dimensions fall slightly, with #2 leading the way. The volume was also down due to the storms battering the Southeast this week. Those storms were especially hard on Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi. Our weekly composite price fell to $287. The fact that prices are falling in March, historically the start of the busiest time of year, is not a good sign for the strength of the recovery. - Bill Nocerino, Manager, Lumber Division, Forest2Market, Inc.www.forest2market.com
