BOISE, Idaho – Boise Cascade’s Building Materials Distribution (BMD) division plans to construct new distribution centers in South Carolina and Texas.

The company announced that it finalized the acquisitions of 45 acres in Walterboro, S.C., and 34 acres in Hondo, Texas, to locate the two centers.

The Walterboro site will service customers in and around Myrtle Beach, Charleston, and Columbia, S.C., as well as Savannah, Ga. Customers in those areas are currently served by Boise facilities in Greensboro, N.C. and Atlanta.

The Hondo distribution facility will be the BMD’s third in Texas, plus two door shops in Houston and Dallas. The Hondo operation will serve customers in Austin, San Antonio, Corpus Christi and the Rio Grande Valley.

When the new facilities are completed, BMD will have 40 distribution centers.

“Consistent with our strategy, these investments demonstrate our commitment to our customers and supplier partners in several high-growth markets,” said Jeff Strom, BMD executive vice president. “This will allow us to expand in engineered wood products, leading brands of general line building materials, as well as lumber and panels products.”
