Cologne – The Surteco Group demonstrates expertise in design and decor at its integrated network stand in Cologne.

Surteco publishes the “Trend Statement 2015/2016” now to coincide with the exhibition. This statement forms the platform and orientation for decor developments. The core of the trend statement interprets the most important social, cultural and creative flows and uses these to define a forecast for 2015 and 2016. Surteco projects two directions here – “related” and “to be” – and together they constitute the megatrend “ONE”.

ONE – End of clarity

Style genres and eras are clearly characterized by attributes like design imagery, colour compositions and materials. This creates a unique, inimitable image for conceptual approaches. Trend “ONE” demonstrates how this clarity is morphing into something else by mixing elements from different periods and styles and recombining them to create a new concept. Surteco identifies the two characteristics “related” and “to be” in this trend which link tradition and modern chutzpah in subtly different ways.

“related”: Retro Chic and industrial look in real time

Urban living and a well-developed affinity with technology linking up people define the trend “related”. An individual’s world of living becomes functional and choreographed by individuality at the same time. Smart phones set the pace in this world connecting people and their experiences in real time. Belonging to a group is important and before making decisions people consult evaluation forums on the Internet. Life is transparent, mobile and flexible. This contrasts with a yearning for proven heritage and the desire for sustainably produced or recycled products. “Cross Culture” is the key word here. Retro Chic encounters the industrial look and combines innovation with culture. This ambivalence is reflected in all areas of life. The world of colour has a large range of metallic shades and some of these hues define evocative accents. A contrast is provided by dark woods, marble and classicist elements, since they inspire a sense of traditional well-being. Surteco has developed the “Leander Mobile” decor to match the trend “related”. The design portrays a version of an elegant, expressive elm to represent the trend styled in a walnut colour composition. The decor is ideal for combination with a wide range of different materials and styles.

“to be”: Emotions and the return to understatement

The trend “to be” is all about emotions. “Me and My Home” is the maxim and home is a sanctuary where individuals can withdraw in an oasis of calm. The focus is on a harmonious atmosphere inspired by comfort concepts and artisan craftsmanship to create a pleasing and relaxing effect. Technical innovations play a subordinate role since the aspiration is simply for basic functions which make life easier. Tactile experience is crucial in this world of contemporary romanticism, sensuously beautiful materials create a contrast to the digital world which does not permit genuine experiences. The style of the interior decor is in tune with this new trend of simple understatement. The design tends to be understated with light colours, white expanses, shades of pastel, country style, woods with natural, calm textures, ethno look and the craft of artisan finish. The Surteco range has integrated the decor “Ibsen Beech” in the trend style “to be”. This decor radiates a very natural and fresh atmosphere with playful, lively flowers and knot variations and therefore melds superlatively with kitchen and living furniture in the country house style.
