FDMC editor, Will Sampson, will present "Path to Professionalism: A guide for entrepreneurs," as part of WMS Live on Saturday, November 2 at 11 a.m.
MISSISSAUGA -- During the three days of WMS, attendees are invited to take in a complementary education session at WMS Live, a new feature that will offer learning on the show floor delivered by industry and association professionals.  "We hope the audience will find our subjects appealing and will want to take in a session on the fly," said Harry Urban, WMS manager.  Sessions are offered by the CKCA, Conestoga College and the Wood Manufacturing Council, and the Bluewater Wood Alliance in addition to Taurus Craco and Woodworking Magazine and FDMC.

Thursday, October 31
 
11:00 a.m. -- Canadian Kitchen Cabinet Association (CKCA) -- Facing industry challenges together -- This session is a review of what CKCA has been doing to support the Canadian kitchen cabinet industry and how important it is to ensure the industry sector remains a thriving part of the manufacturing sector in Canada. Come and hear what’s new and how CKCA can help you.
 
1:00 p.m. -- Taurus Craco -- Advanced Finishing Techniques -- presented by Giardina Group, Italy.
 
2:00 p.m. -- Conestoga College/Wood Manufacturing Council – Workforce challenges -- 
A look at workforce challenges and industry and education responses, partnerships and opportunities to address them.   The co-operation between WMC and Conestoga College’s Woodworking Centre and other post-secondary institutes is just one example of industry and education working hand in hand.... to “feed” the industry with educated woodworkers.
 
Friday, November 1

11:00 a.m. -- Will Sampson, Editor, FDMC -- Path to Professionalism: A guide for entrepreneurs --Sampson’s  presentation, "Path to Professionalism," is  aimed at woodworking businesses starting out or ones that still struggle from time to time.  Sampson will discuss business practices, efficient production, effective marketing, and secrets some shops don’t learn for decades.
