Non-wood substrates are affecting our tooling methods: Amber Millwork's Marty Berman
"One of the biggest trends affecting technologies in the woodworking sector right now is the different types of substrates and materials being used in place of wood," says Marty Berman, owner of Amber Millwork in Kelowna, British Columbia. " I'm finding there are a lot more composite materials, which does affect our tooling. It machines a little bit different. We have to change our processes a tiny bit to adapt for those types of new products coming through. So thinking on your feet and on the fly is one of the biggest challenges we face." Berman received the 2017 Woodworking Industry 40 Under 40 Award last year.
