Residential furniture manufacturers reported a slight uptick in orders for March 2015 over March 2014, with a rise of nearly 2 percent, according to Smith Leonard Accountants & Consultants. Their first quarter overall had a strong showing over the same period last year with a 5 percent increase in new orders, and year-to-date furniture manufacturers reported a 68 percent increase.

Along with good economic news nationally in consumer confidence and housing, with those numbers continuing to climb, manufacturers also reported positive movement in shipping, receivables, and payrolls over the prior period last year. Shipping was up 4 percent, receivables were 6 percent higher than 2014 and payrolls were also up 6 percent.
