LANCASTER, Pa. - Working with area educators, woodworking shops and event exhibitors,Woodworking Network and Thaddeus Stevens State College are assembling a job board for job seekers and employers on-site at Wood Pro Expo, October 19-20, 2017 at the Lancaster Host Resort Expo Center.
Lancaster is home to Thaddeus Stevens State College, which offers four educational programs tailored to woodworking and related design:
- Carpentry Technology
- Cabinetmaking & Wood Technology
- Residential Remodeling Technology
- Architectural Technology
In training for residential and light commercial construction work, carpentry technology students use up-to-date equipment and the newest technology in the building industry.
A strongly project-oriented major, cabinetmaking and wood technology students produce fine furniture and cabinets, including the millwork and kitchen in a local residential house.
Now an essential part of the construction industry, residential remodeling adds living space, retrofits homes to modern conveniences and updates building codes for cosmetic, structural and efficiency.
Stevens College also has an Engineering CAD Technology program, that is closely allied with CNC operations. In this program, mechanical drafters work with state-of-the-art software to simplify, streamline and enhance the manufacturing and engineering process.
