Gene Wengert discussed the future of wood markets, and what manufacturers of wood products could do about imports, shortages and prices.

CHARLOTTE -- Young Wood Pro finalist, Nathan Deal's 17-ft. kayak named the Great Auk was awarded the Young Wood Pro winner at Wood Pro Expo in Charlotte.  Deal said his kayak was crafted with western red cedar and used curly white maple for accent strips.

WPE attendees toured commercial cabinet manufacturer CABTEQ Solutions and Blum.

The doors opened Thursday, Feb. 15 in the exhibit hall in the Charlotte Convention Center. Charlotte will play host to woodworking machinery, supplies and educational sessions Feb. 15 and 16.

The event kicked off February 14 with a keynote address by George Frey, president of Lignum Consulting.
