MADISON, Wisc. - Madison College (Madison, WI) recently hosted a day-long finishing seminar sponsored by Midway Industrial Supply. Over 50 individuals from small to large operations throughout the Midwest gathered to expand their knowledge of coatings and trends in wood finishing. Speakers included Mike Rathbone of Ceramic Industrial Coatings and Wayne Blackwell of EXEL North America.
The first presentation provided a background of commonly used finishes for wood and their working properties. This was followed by a presentation on finishing trends and the latest equipment available for applying coatings. After a lunch provided by Midway Industrial Supply, participants were invited to test the Air-Assisted Airless technology from Kremlin along with their newest spray gun. One lucky participant, Richard Hibma of Ed Wohl Woodworking & Design, won a Kremlin Xcite spray gun provided by Midway.
The Cabinetmaking program at Madison College frequently offers seminars for individuals involved in the wood industry. According to program director Patrick Molzahn, “This is a great way for our students to experience the latest technology and network with companies in the industry.”
