Carving a Valentine with CNC
Valentine candy box

Laguna Tools carved this solid padauk wood Valentine candy box on their Smartshop M CNC router.

There's a long history of carving wood for Valentine's Day, probably going back to the first time someone carved initials inside a heart on a tree to celebrate fondness for another. But it's 2026! How can you do that with modern technology?

Laguna Tools shows the way with video they just released showing the carving of a beautiful wood heart-shaped candy box all done on a CNC router.

The video not only shows how both the exterior and interior of the box are carved out of solid padauk wood, including intricate relief roses on the box lid, but it also highlights the different tooling used for each step on the Smartshop M CNC router with automatic tool changer.

Watch the video and see that with modern technology, there is still time to make that memorable wood Valentine's gift.
