Man caves move from the garage to the closet

LOS ANGELES - For years men have been turning garages into man caves - sanctuaries into which they can escape with their friends, watch the big game or immerse themselves in their favorite hobbies. But professional designers say a new design trend has men eyeing the treasured walk-in closet for their mini man caves.

Celebrity designer Lisa Adams, LA Closet Design located in Los Angeles, designed a mini man cave closet for Matt Rutler, fiancé of pop star Christina Aguilera. Inside this space is not just your basic storage bins, shoe cubbies and hang areas but specially designed spaces for his prized mementos and a little nook with a nice view where he can unwind.

“Everyone wants to feel like they’re in a calm space where they can just unwind,” Adams said in an interview with CBS 4.

Find out more about design trends from Adams at the 2017 AWFS Fair Closets Symposium where she will moderate a panel session. The event takes place July 18 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
