IKEA's U.S. expansion prompts construction of Midwest distribution center

JOLIET, Ill. – Swedish ready-to-assemble furniture maker and retailer IKEA has begun construction on its new Midwest distribution center located in Joliet, Illinois - 48 miles southwest of Chicago. Set to open in the spring of 2018, the approximately 1.25-million-square-foot distribution center will be designed and built by Gray Construction, a nationally recognized engineering, architecture and construction firm. Gray has designed and built more than 250 distribution facilities across the U.S., including other IKEA distribution centers.

2016 Cabinets & Closets Expo Pasadena was a box office hit, up 24 percent in attendance

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The 2016 Cabinets & Closets & Conference & Expo wrapped up a blockbuster week in Pasadena, California from March 22 - 24 with significant increases in size and attendance.Show attendance shot up 24 percent compared to Cabinets & Closets Expo 2015 in Chicago. And total square footage for the Southern California event, held at the Pasadena Convention Center, increased by 28 percent, including 30 first-time exhibitors.

ROL USA to invest nearly $20 million in Michigan manufacturing plant

HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. - ROL USA, a subsidiary of the Swedish furniture firm, ROL Ergo, will build a 140,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in Holland Charter Township, Michigan, investing $19.8 million and creating approximately 51 new jobs within the first two years of construction.ROL, a global supplier of custom-made electric sit-stand table stands, will laser cut, weld, form, powder coat and machine metal as well as assemble and package office furniture products at the new facility.
