POTOMAC FALLS, Va. — The Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI) intends to update an American National Standard (ANS) and invites registration to participate in a Consensus Body for two other proposed standards by September 13, 2024, according to requirements of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI).

Notification of PINS filing for the Revision of a Standard:
1.    American National Standard ANSI/AWI 0641-2019, which provides aesthetic and performance standards for architectural wood casework designed and manufactured/supplied for specific construction projects.

Invitation to Register for Consensus Body
2.    Proposed American National Standard AWI 0100 – Submittals, which provides a standard for communicating the interpretation of design intent.
3.    Proposed American National Standard AWI 0648 - Wood Frames, which provides standards and tolerances for the quality and fit of wood frames, blinds, shutters, window sash, and related interior finishes.

To participate in the development of these two standards, individuals who are directly and materially interested parties are invited to register for the Consensus Body. This step precedes AWI’s opening of a public comment period for each proposed standard. The 14-day registration period for the Consensus Body ends on September 13, 2024.
Individuals and organizations who wish to participate in the upcoming consensus bodies must complete a Pre-Interest Survey, regardless of whether the individual/organization has participated in any previous consensus groups.

No single organization shall have more than one representative serving as a member of the Consensus Body. Determinations will consider the qualifications of the individual, reasons for interest, the need for additional representation in various interest groups, dominance of any single interest, and the requirement for openness.
