I’m trying to restore my front door but I’m not sure how far to go with the sanding. The bottom of the door is a lot worse than the top because of exposure to the sun. From the sun hitting it the wood has developed some pretty deep grooves that run along the grain. Here’s my question, should I sand it down until it’s smoothed out or should I use some type of filler? My plan is to stain the door. So far I’ve made a quick pass with an 80 grit belt sander, then hand sanded with 120.
