A plant tour of Plus Closets has now been finalized as part of the show’s professional development programs. Attendees at the conference and expo programs will be able to participate the the tour, taking either a bus or driving directly to the plant, which is in close proximity to the Renaissance Center, where Cabinets & Closets 2015 is headquartered in Schaumburg, IL.
The tour to Plus Closets’ retooled manufacturing center is incorporated into the Closets Session conference program, the day before the Expo opens. Buses will depart on April 14 around 3:00 p.m. But registered attendees for the Expo - runing April 14 and 15 - are also welcome to come a day early and join in on the event.
Once there, visitors will be split into groups to move through the stages of production operations. Registered attendees for any of the three conference tracks, or the next day's Expo, may RSVP to confirm their attendance at the Plus Closets tour.
The Show Floor Expo Stage program also has been expanded this year, with the addition of several major changes. Keynote speakers will make their presentations each morning of the show. And in a departure from years past, the 2015 Woodworking Network Design Awards Gala also has been moved to the show floor; at 5 pm on Wednesday, the cash bar will roll in, and the stage will be set for the closets and custom woodworking industries’ only national awards celebration.
Four awards programs are included:
• Custom Woodworking Design Portfolio;
• Closets Top Shelf Design,
• Young Wood Pro and the
• Timber Products Kitchen Design Awards
Entries for the first two launched January 16.
A new Tool Zone offers hands-on testing each day of the show. Also new this year, the all-day conference sessions have been split into three tracks: one for closets professionals, one aimed at the business of design, and a third for custom woodworking. Conference and show floor speakers include Dan Claypool, CEO and owner of Merric Millwork; Steve Stephens, VP marketing at acpi (the former Armstrong) Cabinets; and designers Martin Goebel and Denise Butchko.
