Sierra Pacific Earns Certification of Forestlands

REDDING, CA -- Sierra Pacific Industries, a producer of lumber, millwork products and wood windows in the United States, recently had its forestlands and wood procurement, including those in Washington, audited and certified to meet Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) standards, according to the Anacortes American. The comprehensive audit was performed by KPMG Performance Registrar Inc. of Vancouver, BC.

“We are very pleased with the results of this third-party audit,” said A.A. “Red” Emmerson, president of Sierra Pacific. “This certification is a good example of our commitment to provide the highest quality, sustainable forest products from our well-managed forests.”

Sierra Pacific first achieved voluntary third-party certification of its 1.7 million acres of forest lands in California under the SFI program in 2001. In 2003 and 2005, the company’s forestlands and procurement practices were re-certified to meet the standard, including their sawmill in Aberdeen, WA.
